Over the course of Peyton Manning’s impressive 18-year career, he has reached out to hundreds of people with sincere handwritten letters. Recipients have included teammates and rivals, family and friends, coaches, celebrities and fans alike.
To honor Manning’s hall of fame career and recognize him as he has for others through his iconic handwritten letters, Gatorade used Peyton’s own letters to craft a heartfelt tribute set to an instrumental cover of Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A Changin'.”
Sentiments from the letters were read on film from a few of the people Peyton has impacted over the years.
In addition to the above, the video is available on Gatorade's YouTube page: Dear Peyton | Gatorade.
Peyton Manning isn’t a digital kind of guy. He prefers a handwritten note over a social post. In fact, he’s not on social media of any kind.
So when Peyton retired in 2016 and fans took to the Internet with countless messages of love and support, Gatorade wanted to create something real to honor his career. And do it in a way that is true to Peyton...handwritten.
The mural was turned over to football fans at the 2016 NFL Draft Village where fans were able to add their own handwritten messages and sincere goodbyes to #18.
A time-lapse video of the mural is available on Gatorade's YouTube page: #DearPeyton Mural
